Highly valued and trusted by investment experts all over the world fDi Magazine’s rating is designed to notice and rate the European cities and regions with the most potential by categorizing them based on size and presenting the most attractive foreign investment trends. For this year’s ranking, data was collected from 505 cities and regions, which were evaluated by data analysts and experts on aspects such as economic potential, work environment, cost-benefit or quality of life.
Kaunas FDI Strategy attracted the most attention and was the best in this year’s fDi Magazine’s rankings:
2nd place in the category Small Regions of the European Future 2020/21 for the FDI strategy.
4th place in the category Small Cities of the European Future 2020/21 for the FDI strategy.
According to the creators of the rating and investment experts, when evaluating the FDI strategy, the main focus was on the qualitative indicators that best reveal the wisdom and innovation of the strategy used to attract investors.
The Kaunas region ranked second in its rating category to the southeast region of Ireland, overtaking such competitors as the Basel region in Switzerland, the Greater Helsinki region in Finland and the Upper Austria region.
Kaunas city surpassed the Portuguese Braga, the capital of Cyprus Nicosia, Ireland’s Cork, and the United Kingdom’s Reading in its FDI strategy.
“We are delighted that Kaunas has what is most relevant to foreign investors today. The best proof of that is the fact that the city appeared in fDi Magazine’s TOP positions,” Visvaldas Matijošaitis, Kaunas City Mayor, says.
Tadas Stankevičius, Director of Kaunas city tourism, International Marketing and Investment Development Agency Kaunas IN, says that the positive evaluations prove the right course of action, “The results show that we have chosen the right direction. The competitive environment forces us to think of new solutions, which should also bring about a real change in the economic life of the city in the future. Such achievements would not be possible without close cooperation with the academic community of the city and other strategic partners in Kaunas and all over Lithuania.”
Last year, Kaunas region was ranked tenth in the Human Resources and Quality of Life category and ninth in the Cost-Benefit category in fDi Magazine’s Small European Regions of the Future 2018/19.
