Educating children

The city offers a great number of kindergartens for the youngest residents and some of the best schools in Lithuania for school-aged children. Kaunas has private educational establishments such as Montessori, Waldorf, Queen Morta schools or Erudito Licėjus that employ a different approach to education and create possibilities for English or Russian speaking children to learn in their own language. There are two gymnasiums in Kaunas that have an international baccalaureate/MYP class.

Žalgiris Arena is the largest multi-purpose space in the Baltic region and a true powerhouse of culture. The arena that seats up to 20,000 spectators for a concert or event has hosted the world’s largest bands, performers and theatre troupes as well as numerous exhibitions, various sports events and conferences. The versatility and excellent location of the arena have made it the leader in the Baltic region.

Sport is part of culture

Kaunas is represented by Žalgiris, one of the top basketball clubs in Europe. It is the pride and the icon of the country.

 

However, Kaunas is not just about basketball. The city has a well-developed sports infrastructure and facilities for the enthusiasts of swimming, tennis, squash, ice hockey and football.
