Kaunas will mark the 35th anniversary of Lithuania’s Restoration of Independence with a diverse programme of events. Hundreds of tricolour flags will adorn the city, accompanied by a festive procession, a solemn commemoration in the garden of the Vytautas the Great War Museum, and a series of concerts. Additionally, the city’s museums will welcome visitors with free admission.
“Now, more than ever, it is important to stand united, to be civic-minded, to understand the price of freedom and our responsibility to Lithuania. 11th March is a perfect opportunity to do just that – to come together, to remember the restoration of Lithuania’s independence, the struggles for freedom, and to celebrate our freedom. Kaunas has made sure that this day will be truly meaningful and memorable,” said Kaunas’ Deputy Mayor, Mantas Jurgutis, inviting people to join the celebrations.
Free public transport
On March 11th, commemorating an important and special day for Lithuania, public transport in Kaunas will run for free.
