According to the National Tourism Information System (NTIS), Kaunas city accommodation establishments welcomed 86,651 guests in the first half of 2025, who spent a total of 152,483 nights. The average stay duration was 1.8 nights.
In Kaunas city accommodation establishments, foreign tourists accounted for 59.30% of all guests, while the remaining 40.70% were local (Lithuanian) tourists.
Starting in 2025, with the introduction of data collection on travel purpose, it was revealed that 34.9% of Lithuanian residents travelled to Kaunas for leisure, 13.7% for business, and 0.7% for health-related reasons. The goals of foreign visitors were distributed similarly: leisure – 34.4%, business – 13.1%, and health – 2.5%. Leisure trips were dominated by visitors from Germany, the United Kingdom, and Latvia; business trips by those from Poland, Latvia and Germany; and health-related visits mostly by guests from the United Kingdom, Ireland and Latvia.
Looking at specific dates, certain days in this half-year stand out clearly, coinciding with large-scale concerts and events. For example, the highest number of guests was recorded on June 6, when as many as 1,231 tourists stayed overnight in Kaunas (directly linked to Justin Timberlake’s concert at the Darius and Girėnas Stadium); March 14 (1,178 tourists stayed overnight) – linked to the “Lilas ir Innomine” concert at Žalgiris Arena; January 18 (1,122 tourists stayed overnight) – to GJan‘s concert at Žalgiris Arena; January 24 (1,025 tourists stayed overnight) – to the M.A.M.A. Awards held at Žalgiris Arena.
Important: Since 2025, data on tourist flows has been collected through the National Tourism Information System (NTIS), providing greater opportunities to monitor tourism trends in real time. Due to differences in data scope, comparisons will not be made with the 2024 data obtained from the State Data Agency; however, certain trends will still be reflected through comparisons with visitor information from Tourism Information Centres and the collected city tax.

The trends at International Kaunas Airport are encouraging: despite the ongoing reconstruction, both passenger and flight numbers have increased significantly compared to the same period last year (passengers – by 20.60%; flights – by 15.99%).

Tourist Information Centers (TIC) Statistics
During the first six months of 2025, a total of 14,993 individuals were served at Kaunas Tourism Information Centres (Laisvės al. 36 and Rotušės a. 15). The number of visitors who physically visited the centres reached 9,692. The highest number of foreign tourists came from Germany (938), Poland (509), United Kingdom (462), Spain (409), France (326).
The busiest month was June: with 3,723 individuals served and the highest recorded visitor flow of 2,808.
