Kaunas Tourism Statistics 2025

2025

According to the National Tourism Information System (NTIS), in 2025 accommodation establishments in Kaunas welcomed 203,658 guests, who spent a total of 348,141 nights in the city. The average length of stay was 1.7 nights.

Foreign visitors accounted for 60.2 % of all guests in Kaunas accommodation establishments, while the remaining 39.8 % were domestic tourists.

Since 2025, data on the purpose of travel has also been collected. Among Lithuanian residents visiting Kaunas, 33% travelled for leisure, 11.5% for business, and 0.6% for health-related purposes. The breakdown of foreign visitors was similar, with 35.8% arriving for leisure, 18.1% for business, and 2.3% for health purposes. Leisure travel was dominated by visitors from Germany, Poland and Latvia; business trips were most common among guests from Poland, Latvia and Germany; and those arriving for medical treatment came primarily from the United Kingdom, Ireland and Latvia.

When examining individual dates, several days stand out clearly, coinciding with large‑scale concerts and events. According to the revised data, the highest numbers of guests are associated with concerts by world‑renowned performers at the Darius and Girėnas Stadium, recorded on the following dates: 1 August (1,419 tourists stayed in Kaunas) during the Robbie Williams concert; 6 June (1,277 tourists stayed in Kaunas) during the Justin Timberlake concert; 10 July (1,253 tourists stayed in Kaunas) during the Guns N’ Roses concert; and 21 August (1,247 tourists stayed in Kaunas) during the Post Malone concert.

Interestingly, tourists also come to Kaunas for concerts by Lithuanian performers: on 18 October, a total of 1,350 overnight stays were linked to the Beissoul & Einius duo concert held at Žalgiris Arena. The Assumption (Žolinės) long weekend also attracted exceptionally high numbers, with 1,183 tourists staying on 15 August and 1,057 on 16 August.

Important note. From 2025 onwards, data on tourist flows are collected via the National Tourism Information System (NTIS), which enables real-time monitoring of tourism trends. Due to differences in data coverage, figures are not directly comparable with 2024 statistics previously provided by the State Data Agency. Nevertheless, comparisons with Tourism Information Centre visitor flows and collected accommodation tax revenues illustrate certain trends.
