According to the National Tourism Information System (NTIS), during the first nine months of 2025 accommodation establishments in Kaunas welcomed 151,934 guests, who spent a total of 255,812 nights in the city. The average length of stay was 1.7 nights.
Foreign visitors accounted for 63.57% of all guests in Kaunas accommodation establishments, while the remaining 36.43% were domestic tourists. Since 2025, data on the purpose of travel has also been collected. Among Lithuanian residents visiting Kaunas, 31.6% travelled for leisure, 11.3% for business, and 0.6% for health-related purposes. The breakdown of foreign visitors was similar, with 37.7% arriving for leisure, 9.8% for business, and 1.8% for health purposes. Leisure travel was dominated by visitors from Germany, Poland and Finland; business trips were most common among guests from Poland, Latvia and Germany; and those arriving for medical treatment came primarily from the United Kingdom, Ireland and Latvia.
Daily data show clear peaks coinciding with large-scale concerts and events, particularly at the Darius and Girėnas Stadium. The highest guest numbers were linked to performances by world-renowned artists: on 1 August, when Robbie Williams performed, 1,367 tourists stayed overnight in Kaunas; on 6 June, during Justin Timberlake’s concert, there were 1,231 overnight stays; on 10 July, when Guns N’ Roses performed, 1,222 tourists stayed; and on 21 August, Post Malone’s concert brought 1,218 visitors. The Assumption (Žolinės) long weekend also attracted exceptionally high numbers, with 1,183 tourists staying on 15 August and 1,057 on 16 August.
Important note
From 2025 onwards, data on tourist flows are collected via the National Tourism Information System (NTIS), which enables real-time monitoring of tourism trends. Due to differences in data coverage, figures are not directly comparable with 2024 statistics previously provided by the State Data Agency. Nevertheless, comparisons with Tourism Information Centre visitor flows and collected accommodation tax revenues illustrate certain trends.
